Guided Implant Surgery with Vatech CT Scanner

Implant dentistry is an important advancement in tooth replacement. Our computer-guided implant placement systems have taken this revolutionary procedure one step further. Drs. Berley and Torres use guided implant surgery technology to:

pax i3D
  • establish precise implant positioning
  • secure the best aesthetic result
  • reduce surgery time
  • enable minimally invasive surgery

The benefits of Guided Implant Surgery include:

  • Precision and accuracy—results from pre-surgery planning
  • Reduced risk—minimizes the risk of unexpected complications
  • Information and detail—aids doctors in planning implant size and positioning
  • Convenience and comfort—provides digital impressions rather than a mouthful of traditional goopy impression material
  • Optimal outcomes—pinpoints the exact position of planned restorations before placing implants, so the implant is perfectly centered under the future crown

Computer-guided implant surgery ensures precise and accurate implant placement. We use the information gathered by our scanner to:

  • Check bone and surrounding structures.
  • Ensure there is enough bone for implant placement.
  • Watch the safety of vital structures and nerves.
  • Craft a surgical template to determine the best locations for implant placement.

3D Imaging—Quick and Accurate AND SAFE

We use computed tomography—the newest innovation in imaging—to take accurate images of the anatomical structure of your teeth, bones, and nerves. 3D imaging with a CT scan system generates high definition x-rays of your oral cavity within seconds.

What Vatech has developed breaks many dental radiography conventions. It was always believed that with low radiation comes inferior image quality, which renders the image useless for a clinical diagnosis. However, Green CT 2 provides clinically diagnosable x-ray scans at a low x-ray dosage. With low dose x-ray radiography, achieving clinically diagnosable image quality is the new gold standard.

3D Imaging showing full jaw
3D Imaging of full set of teeth

CT provides information not available when using traditional x-rays. Our 3D imaging system allows our doctors to:

  • Gain visual access to every angle
  • Eliminate guesswork in measuring and positioning implants
  • Analyze nerve, sinus, and roots positions before surgery
  • Determine best treatment options for a custom treatment plan

Early Diagnosis—Catching the Problem Early

Prevention is an important component of dental health. The sooner we discover a problem, the more likely we will be able to prevent future issues. CT imaging allows for early diagnosis of cysts, tumors, and infections in the jaw. We also use advanced technology to treat a wide range of oral diseases and disorders, such as

  • TMJ osteoarthritis
  • Sleep apnea
  • Impacted teeth
  • Periodontal disease

The Osstell Test – Implant Stability Quotient (ISQ)

As medical professionals, it is our duty to help our patients make the best decisions possible for their health. Osstell ISQ provides accurate, consistent, and objective data to do just that.

We use this specialized machine to help us determine when it is safe to place the permanent abutment, during the dental implant placement process. The ISQ measures the degree of osseointegration (or how much the jawbone has fused with the titanium implant) by measuring the stability of the implant.

If you’re curious about how this machine works, we like to think of it as a tuning fork. It has three parts: the SmartPeg, the probe, and the IDX instrument. The SmartPeg attaches to a patient’s implant, and the probe has a magnet, which emits magnetic pulses. The magnetic pulses cause the SmartPeg to vibrate, and the IDX instrument measures the frequency of these vibrations, which are represented by the value discussed above, the ISQ, the stability of your implant.

If your jawbone is dense (or healed), the peg vibrates at a higher frequency. So, if the implant is stable, you will have a high ISQ value. If the ISQ value is low, that means the bone is not dense or is not done healing, and the implant is not yet ready for the abutment.

Delicate Surgical Bone Grafting with Piezoelectric Technology

When it comes to your oral health, nothing matters as much as precise and gentle care. We are one of the few practices in the country that use this innovative technology—Piezoelectric—in lieu of drilling. Used in atraumatic bone surgeries, such as sinus lifts, bone grafts, and dental implants, piezoelectric accesses vibrations to cut bone tissue while employing sterile saline to cool the surgical site. This technology allows soft tissue to remain untouched.

Our goal is to do everything within our power to help you live your life to the fullest, so we make it our mission to provide you with the most advanced care possible.

The secret to a better life is excellent oral health because better oral health means better overall health.  We make sure to harness every technology available to offer the best oral care possible to our patients.
